Leslie Schulz
Sr Digital Accessibility Specialist, Cengage
After teaching English and Spanish for many years, I earned my master’s degree in Computer Education from the University of North Texas. I then taught web design and computer programming, first at the high school level and then at the college level. I became interested in web accessibility and began introducing the concepts to my web design students. In one of the courses, the student team created a WordPress site for American Council of the Blind of Texas. In December of 2018.I earned my CPACC certification, Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies. In 2019 I continued teaching but also performed usability testing with American Foundation for the Blind. In 2020 I began working full time performing accessibility testing and training for Cengage, an educational publisher. In November of 2021 I earned my WAS certification, Web Accessibility Specialist.
