Jasmin Bailey

Manager of Business Operations and Program Coordinator, American Association of People with Disabilities


Jasmin Bailey is the Operations Manager and Program Coordinator  at the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD.)  In this role, She oversees the daily internal operations of the organization  and several of AAPD’s youth-focused programs aimed to empower students and young professionals with disabilities. 


Prior to her employment at  AAPD, Jasmin was a 2013 AAPD summer intern, where she had the opportunity to intern at the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.  She specifically help research and aid in the recruitment process of colleges and universities to participate in the Workforce Recruitment Program, a program  that connects federal and private sector employers with highly motivated students with disabilities for short and long-term internships.  Jasmin credits the AAPD Summer Internship program for its transformational impact it had in her life and how it initially sparked her passion and commitment to the disability social justice movement.  Jasmin is dedicated to the fight for equal rights for the disability community in the U.S and abroad, and works everyday to breakdown the attitudinal barriers that  continues to hinder disabled people today.


Jasmin is a graduate of Mary Baldwin College, located in Staunton Virginia, where she received her BA in Exercise Science  and a minor in Leadership Studies.  She is also a graduate of the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership (VWIL), the first, only all female corps of cadets in the world. VWIL is a satellite school to the Virginia Military Institute, where she spent four years in Reserve Officer Training Corps.  During this time, Jasmin was involved in many extra-curricular activities and served in leadership roles to include Drum Major, band captain and drill team Commander.  She also had a unique  opportunity to attend and graduate from Airborne School located in Ft, Benning, GA.

 

In her spare time, Jasmin enjoys participating in outdoor activities, reading various genres of books, and enjoys participating in recreational adaptive sports.
