Lisa will cover EPUB basics, EPUB standards and EPUB formats. Lisa will also show software related to EPUB accessibility, and provide many concrete tips on how to make them more accessible for people with different disabilities.

Who should attend?

The presentation is geared to those who have never created an EPUB before and those who have created EPUBs in the past, but want to increase their knowledge of EPUB accessibility. No technical expertise is required, just an interest in the subject.

Prerequisites

It helps if you have been exposed to HTML before, but this is not required.

About the Instructor

Lisa Snider

Lisa Snider is the Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant, Trainer and Owner of Access Changes Everything Inc., a Canadian digital accessibility consulting company. She has been a digital accessibility advocate and specialist since 1999, specializing in digital accessibility in different contexts and settings, including as a web developer, archivist, librarian, and as a senior accessibility consultant and trainer. Lisa’s passion in life is working with website, document, EPUB, audio, video, email, social media and app accessibility, and sharing her knowledge through education to make these digital materials more accessible for people with different disabilities.

Lisa was the Chair of the Province of Manitoba’s Accessibility for Manitobans Act, Information & Communications Standard Development Committee, was a Stakeholder in the W3C Accessibility Guidelines Working Group Silver Task Force (WCAG 2.1), is an invited member of the Microsoft Inclusive Workplace Customer Advisory Council, collaborating with Microsoft to improve the accessibility of their products.

Lisa has worked with EPUBs in both library and business settings, including at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. In 2019, she conducted two day EPUB Accessibility workshops and webinars, and completed Canadian publisher EPUB audits, for the National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS).

After Registration

Once registered, an order confirmation arrives in your email. A few moments later after you have registered, the person assigned the ticket receives an event details email that includes, among other things:

A calendar invite to add the event to your calendar
Shortly before the conference, a unique link to join the event on the day of the conference

Also, as the event draws near, ticket holders will receive email reminders, so they don’t miss a thing!

On the day of the online event, enjoy and learn! Don’t worry if you can’t make it at the scheduled time. In one to two weeks after the event, you will be notified that recordings have been posted so you can review and share with your team.
