Guidelines, Emerging Technologies, and New Resources

The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) develops the international standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and much more. In this workshop, you can share your perspectives and learn about exciting new work through WAI.

July 23, 2020 · 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM CT

Learn about…

  • WCAG 2.2 and the next generation of accessibility guidelines (previously referred to as “Silver”)
  • real-time communications (RTC), virtual or immersive environments (VR, XR), pronunciation, and personalization
  • improving accessibility to people with cognitive and learning disabilities
  • encouraging authoring tools (like CMSs) to be more accessible with a new accessibility report tool and authoring tools list in development
  • supporting better accessibility evaluation

We’ll also go over free online resources that are ready now for you to use and customize, including resources for:

  • evaluating accessibility
  • teaching and advocating
  • planning and managing accessibility
  • developing, designing, and writing content
  • understanding accessibility standards

There will be time throughout the workshop to ask questions and share input on WAI work and resources. And you’ll learn how you can get involved with accessibility efforts through W3C WAI.
