taught by: Samuel Proulx, Jeanne Spellman

Session Summary

Challenge of how to overcome impediments to innovation and greater inclusion in policies and regulations within an existing system

Description

AccessU is pleased to present a pilot and trial run of an innovative format to be used later this month for the Accessible Canada-Accessible World (ACAW) Conference in Montreal Canada and online. ACAW is designed to directly engage stakeholders in considering current challenges that face the disability community and to develop a planned approach to address the challenge. The outcomes are intended to be actionable and will be put into place following the event.

At AccessU we will are addressing two challenges, one at each of the two sessions. A facilitator, a provocateur, and a scribe will be on hand to guide and capture the community dialogue. The challenge we are considering in this session is related to the Theme #3 –Innovation in Standards and Policy. The challenge statement that we will ask participants to engage with is:

TBD

Session roles:

  • Facilitator: Sam Proulx
  • Provocateur: Jeanne Spellman
  • Scribe: TBD
  • Room host: Jillian Fortin

There will be no formal presentation during the session. ACAW is
provided a flipped model where resources are available for
optional viewing in advance.  These are meant to lay a foundation
for discussion leading to solutions to the stated challenge.
Participation is encouraged from both local and remote attendees.
