AccessU 2026
Flipped Learning Track

Review posted materials in advance, actively participate in May

AccessU Attendees

Inspired by the successful Accessible Canada/Accessible World (ACAW) conference produced in Montreal in May of 2024, Knowbility continues to bring the concept to AccessU 2026. Read on for details of sponsorship, participation, and goals.

The Concept

Community input will shape the sessions. We agree that we must build a more equitable and inclusive digital world. We agree that challenges remain as we work toward that goal. This new track builds on sessions piloted at AccessU in 2024 and is meant to bring more voices and perspectives to the conversations about challenging topics specifically related to digital accessibility and inclusion.

During AccessU (May 12, 13 and 14)

Sessions are open to all in-person and remote attendees of AccessU 2026 with captioning, and transcription services provided. A session facilitator will lead and be supported by a provocateur charged with ensuring that diverse perspectives are explored. A scribe will capture the discussion and post to the dedicated session archive. People are encouraged to review the background materials and presentations to establish a common understanding. The facilitator will provide an overview of the challenge to start each session. The goal is to foster further engagement, collaboration, and the development of effective approaches and solutions.

The Challenges

For the purposes of deep exploration within time and resources constraints, we've settled on four challenges to bring to the AccessU community.

Please use the links below to review the background materials and presentations prior to the scheduled sessions.

Tuesday, May 12

  • Challenge: Accessible Cybersecurity - Addressing the tensions between security and accessibility.
    (Session time: 8:30 AM – 11:45 AM)
  • Challenge: Navigating the Opportunities and Risks of Artificial Intelligence - Innovation in assistive features is rapidly being embedded and integrated in mainstream tools and devices, often using AI. How do we maintain a trusted focus on user-centric experience and approaches through better engagement and participation of PWDs?
    (Session time: 2:15 PM – 5:30 PM)

Wednesday, May 13

Looking Ahead

Part of the Flipped Classroom process is to continuously ask “What and who are we missing?” These presentations offer themes for challenges in the future. They are presented here to raise awareness and interest in participation in future workshops.

Sponsor this track

Funds are needed for tech support, ASL and other disability accomodations, travel for the session leaders and more. Visit our Partner Opportunites Page to learn more about sponsoring or contact us at sponsorship@knowbility.org

We're very excited about these sessions. We collaborated with ACAW to bring two "practice" sessions of this format to AccessU in 2024 and had outstanding participation and results. We're eager to expand the concept and hope you're excited by it too. A major sponsor role, your support will be a high profile position at AccessU 2026.
