In this session we will demonstrate the advantages EPUB files have over PDF's when it comes to accessibility and usability. You will be introduced to the free WordToEPUB application from the DAISY Consortium and we will get hands-on practice with creating EPUB's from structured accessible MS Word Documents.
Description
EPUB3 is the publishing standard used in Higher Education by all the major publishers. Now that word processors support EPUB 3, it is becoming more widely used as the preferred document format for electronic distribution. EPUB 3 is the most accessible document format we have, and this presentation will introduce participants to creating EPUB files from structured accessible Word documents.

- Participants will learn the accessibility and navigation advantages of EPUBs.
- Participants will learn how to use the free WordToEPUB application from DAISY.
- Participants will learn how to create an accessible EPUB from an accessible structured Word Document.
