Best Practices in PDF Remediation
taught by: Karen McCall
Session Summary
This session spans the basic tags available as a starting point and then gets into the decisions PDF remediation professionals face when working on each document.
Description
When a PDF remediation professional opens a PDF document to "make it accessible" there are a lot of decisions to make. Sometimes we are responsible for figuring out a logical reading order when there is none, manually building lists, tables and adding changes in language or acronym expansion text. This workshop will cover techniques to save time, how to deal with scanned PDF and some of the typical conversion errors that we need to fix.
Practical Skills
- Understand the Tags Tree and how it relates to adaptive technology.
- Learn time saving remediation techniques when working with an untagged PDF.
- Learn techniques for page numbers/labels, changes in language and identification of acronyms.
