taught by: James Green

co-presented by: Caleb Watson

Session Summary:

Learn how to design and develop for everyone the right way with inclusive design, accessibility, user research, and a design system to bring it all together.

Description:

Learn how to design and develop for everyone the right way with inclusive design, accessibility, user research, and a design system to bring it all together. We’ll teach you to create highly usable, accessible, and consistent experiences at scale, and to reach your users where they are while improving usability and tapping into the huge, wide open disability/accessibility market. We’ll cover how to build and empower the right (fully qualified) team, how to design inclusively, develop accessible, usable components at scale, build a process your teams will want to adopt, provide them the right tools for the job (and the people behind each job), how to gain support within your organization and then grow adoption. We’ll also share tons of experience, learnings, & inspiration along the way.

Practical Skills:

  • A peek at Visa’s Design System as well as the research methodology, requirements, and test cases Visa uses to ensure usable, accessibile components.
  • A playbook for a design system that incorporates inclusive design, quality usable, accessible components, how to staff, scale, and grow adoption.
  • Tips and insights from leaders who have helped many teams through this process, seen successes and failures, and know what it takes to make it stick.
