Session Summary:

Come join Handsome’s Director of Technology Implementation Sean McMains as he presents an introduction to Virtual & Augmented Reality and then leads a discussion of principles of accessible design in those technologies. Together we’ll look at ways of making spatial computing maximally useful for everyone, regardless of degree of mobility, vision, acuity of hearing, or motor control. We’ll then consider the various resources that are available for designing in this medium and wrap up with Q&A and open discussion.

Come join Handsome’s Director of Technology Implementation Sean McMains as he presents an introduction to Virtual & Augmented Reality and then leads a discussion of principles of accessible design in those technologies. Together we’ll look at ways of making spatial computing maximally useful for everyone, regardless of degree of mobility, vision, acuity of hearing, or motor control. We’ll then consider the various resources that are available for designing in this medium and wrap up with Q&A and open discussion.

We’ll look at how designing for extremes of ability benefits everyone, and how to apply this insight to extended reality experiences. We’ll discuss a variety of challenges that various users of virtual and augmented reality might experience, and ways that we can build our experiences to make them useful and enjoyable to the broadest possible range of people.
