Louise Clark is a front end developer at Duke Energy. She decided to switch careers and become a developer after more than a decade of teaching Latin American history at local universities.
Her love for software development began with a story. On NPR she heard about a young Syrian immigrant woman who developed an app to help people flee bombs being dropped by the Assad regime. Her app helped people find safe spaces quickly. I was floored by the implications of her story. She realized that her passion for social activism and bringing positive change to the world was going to be rooted in code.
Louise also has three kids who think it’s entirely possible she might code the next Minecraft game someday.
