Development Director

The Development Director is a department of one at this time. The position reports to the Executive Director and closely collaborates with the Community Programs Manager and the Marketing Director and team.  This is a full time, salaried position. We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated, responsible, and optimistic person who is comfortable building a network of support for our mission. The overarching goal will be to establish a multi-faceted revenue stream for Knowbility’s Community Programs.


  • Clearly articulate and promote a strong case for support of Knowbility
    community programs and events.

  • Develop a comprehensive Resource Development Plan, and a database to track and maintain the Plan. Elements will include the following revenue streams , including a stewardship plan for each:

    • Individual donor program including:

      • Annual campaign

      • Crowd funding / peer to peer campaigns

      • Monthly Giving Program

      • Planned Giving / Bequests

      • Major Gifts Campaign

      • Grant Program including 

    • Grant Program including

      • Research grant opportunities

      • Work with staff to identify appropriate funding sources. 

      • Develop grant writing calendar 

      • Submit grant applications in timely fashion 

      • Administer grant funds, including submitting final reports 

    • Corporate underwriting and sponsorships

  • Establish and maintain a donor database to support the Resource Development Plan 

  • Develop a volunteer fundraising committee and set quarterly goals. 

  • Other duties that may arise and are agreed upon to serve
    organizational goals.


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (in a related field such as Marketing, Public or Community Relations, Event Planning)

  • Excellent communication, organizational and creative thinking skills.

  • Proven fundraising experience.

  • Software proficiency in standard office software, including Microsoft and Google

  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication with marketing and communications skills.

  • Strong initiative and customer service orientation.

  • Demonstrated high energy level and flexibility, pleasant persona coupled with sound judgment.

  • Interest and basic knowledge about digital accessibility preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range is $45 to $60K based on experience and success in fundraising for community programs.

  • Flexible working hours with a clear work from home policy after 3 months

  • 401(k) contributions are matched up to 4% of salary
