[Accessibility_sig] table summary attributes

Hi Mary,
Use empty summary attributes (summary="") if you want, or no summary
attribute (since unlike alt on images, summary is not required) for all
tables except data tables where you can easily summarize the structure of
the table, summary="tv listings - each row is a station, columns are times".

Subject: [Accessibility_sig] table summary attributes
Hi again,
A while ago I posted a question about empty image alt tags and learned
that they are indeed compliant and a best practice as far as
accessbility is concerned. Thanks for the helpful feedback!
We're facing a similar question about table summary attributes. We've
always used "structural table" so that HTML Tidy wouldn't complain about
empty attributes. From an accessibility POV, are we better off leaving
table summary attributes empty?
