[Accessibility_sig] Forcing SMIL to use quicktime?

You don't mention how you are attempting to deliver the content (via Web, on
CD, etc.).  If you are delivering the content via Web pages, then one option
would be to set up a .qtl file that links to a .smil file, which in turn
links to the .mov and .qt.txt file.
 
Check out the following at WebAIM - they have a good description on how to
use the .qtl method to open the QT player and play SMIL presentations:

You may have to add the extension .qtl to your webserver, but this method
has worked for me in Firefox, IE, and Opera.
 
If you want to just view your presentation for evaluating timing, etc. you
will need to open QT first and then from within QT open the SMIL file.  Most
times the .smil extension is not set to open using QT (you can, of course,
reset this on your local machine).
