Charlene,

See Jordan Kasper's class materials here:

I don't know if you saw my last post: javascript should only be used to
enhance the user's experience; you should not rely on javascript.

We are running into a lot of this at TPWD - software that generates
inaccessible code, so I know where you are coming from. Our application
developers are working programming magic to get around this. I am not
sure if they are tweaking the software or tweaking the end result before
the browser renders it, but there is definitely tweaking going on.

The link above should answer some questions for you.

Subject: [Accessibility_sig] JavaScript Accessibility

I have been shown a new product of the Texas State Library, and am
evaluating it for accessibility +. There is a JavaScript that triggers
new content on the page, but it does not notify the end user that
content on the page has changed. I am supposed to meet with the
application developer to make recommendations on how to make this
product accessible. Though I have run through it in Jaws, and I can "get
to" the content by triggering the JavaScript enabled links with the
keyboard, I already know to expect the new content.
I am hoping that someone else on list will have a few minutes to take a
gander at this and share any comments and recommendations.
The site is located at http://ceportal.tsl.state.tx.us
Thank you!
